Mortero vs Concreto
Comparación de ingredientes, casos de uso y elección de batidora adecuada para cada material.
Concrete
"The Structural Backbone"
- 🪨 Contains: Cement + Sand + GRAVEL
- 💪 Strength: Extremely High (4000+ PSI)
- 🏗️ Use: Foundations, Slabs, Posts
"Think of concrete like a chocolate chip cookie. The gravel (chips) provides the bulk strength."
Mortar
"The Glue"
- 🏖️ Contains: Cement + Sand + LIME
- 🤝 Strength: Lower (Bonding Strength is key)
- 🧱 Use: To stick bricks/blocks together
"Think of mortar like the cream in an Oreo. It holds the cookies (bricks) together."

| Best Applied | Poured into forms | Troweled between joints |
| Self-Supporting? | Yes (Structural) | No (Adhesive) |
Can I use the same mixer?
For Concrete:
Use a standard Drum Mixer. The tumbling action uses gravity to crash the rocks into the mix, breaking up clumps.
See Drum Mixers →For Mortar:
Use a Mortar (Paddle) Mixer or a Drum Mixer. Paddle mixers are better because mortar has no rocks to help mix it—the paddles chop through the thick paste.
See Mortar Mixers →Common Mistakes
- ❌
Mistake: Using concrete to patch a brick wall.
Why: The gravel in concrete makes it impossible to get a smooth joint. - ❌
Mistake: Using mortar to set a fence post.
Why: Mortar lacks the structural integrity and compressive strength to hold a post against wind.
